Andahuaylillas Church, Sistine Chapel of America

Located in the village of Andahuaylillas, the church of San Pedro is known as the Sistine Chapel of America. The village of Andahuaylillas is 36 km southwest of Cusco, a short distance from the main Cusco-Puno road..

While the exterior of the church looks rather humble, it is the interior, that makes this one of the most valuable jewels of the colonial art in Peru, sometimes called the Capilla Sixtina or Sistine Chapel of America.

Raqchi Archaeological Complex

Between the snow-capped peaks and original villages, in the Andean highlands between Cusco and Puno, there is the beautiful preinca site of Raqchi. Immediately noticeable are the slender, but very imprecisely crafted columns of Raqchi, some of which rise up to a height of 12 meters into the sky.

Undoubtedly the heart of the once rectangular settlement high above sea level is the extraordinary temple of Raqchi. Consisting of volcanic rock and clay, the temple dedicated to the Inca god Viracocha is unique in Latin America.
